About the West Seattle Food Bank

Mission: West Seattle Food Bank strengthens the community through the power of neighbors helping neighbors, working to ensure all in our community have access to food, clothing, housing, and other essentials of living.


Food Programs

Food Bank: Clients can shop for groceries in a modified market-style setting, including fresh produce, frozen protein, pantry staples, and pet food. WSFB distributes more than 2.2 million pounds of food annually to 25,000 individuals.

Home Delivery & Mobile Food Bank: Provides food to homebound individuals and distributes groceries to underserved areas via mobile units. Currently serving 8 sites; Alaska House, Avalon Place, Cal-Mor Circle, Cottage Grove, Elizabeth House, Westwood Heights, The Rise at Yancy, & The Center for Active Living with mobile food banks, and over 400 households per week with home delivery.

Backpack Program: Delivers weekly kid-friendly meals via local schools to nearly 500 free school breakfast/lunch reliant children to ensure they have food over the weekend. Each weekend pack contains 6 meals and 2 snacks that children can prepare themselves. 15,000+ weekend food packs are distributed annually. This program grew 63% from 2025 to 2025 and is still growing – inflation on groceries is hurting working families.

Financial Assistance

Rent & Utilities Assistance: Offers emergency financial support to prevent eviction, foreclosure, or utility shut-offs for West Seattle residents. To apply, clients call the hotline between 1st-7th of the month and leave a message. A volunteer calls them back to take the application and helpline staff determine eligibility for assistance. Must be in Seattle city limits or White Center/unincorporated King County, but only in the zip codes 98106, 98116, 98126, 98136, or 98146.

Clothing & Essentials

The Clothesline: Provides free new and gently used clothing, hygiene products, and other essentials for individuals and families of all ages. It moved to a new location, 5444 Delridge Way SW Ste. 100, at the beginning of 2026. It is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays (10am-1pm) for shopping once monthly, no appointment needed. The Clothesline distributes more than 100,000 pieces of clothing annually.

Bus Tickets: Distributes bus tickets to help clients attend appointments, job interviews, and other essential activities.
